Plastic Wrap Mani

Hey guys!

I tried out the plastic wrap technique and it wasn't a total success. If you haven't seen any manicures done like this, the process is pretty simple. All you need is two or more different nail polish and plastic wrap (yes, that stuff you use to wrap your leftover food up in). First paint your nails like normal and let them dry completely. Make sure you have little pieces of plastic wrap ready to use, roughly 2 inches by 2 inches. After your nails are dried, paint only one nail at a time and before it dries, crinkle your piece of plastic wrap and light dab off the still wet polish, wait for that to dry and apply our top coat! It's a pretty simple process. Where I messed up was my color selection, as you'll see. The colors I used were OPI Purple with Purpose and Zoya Reece.

It didn't turn out badly, it just didn't turn out as well as I hoped. If Reece was more opaque it would have been better I think. I thought about doing another color on top but in the end I didn't. It's definitely a technique I will do again! Hope you guys enjoyed!

Slanted French Tip

Hey guys!

I've got a multi-colored, slanted french tip for you today. As I've said before, I'm not a huge fan of french tips but this one is a bit of a twist. I used 3 different base coats, Blue Grotto from Sephora by OPI, Caliente Romance from Sephora by OPI, and Fuchsia from China Glaze. I used White Cap from China Glaze for the french tip.

Barbie Pink!

Hey guys!

This past weekend, my boyfriend and I had a wedding to go to so of course once I decided on what dress I was wearing, I had to figure out what to do with my nails! I waned something girly and pretty and simple. As I was looking through my polish I found Play the Peonies from OPI but I wanted more that just that beautiful light pearly pink so I went looking in my glitters to see if I could find anything that would go well. I found a glittery pink top coat from Forever21.

It turned out perfect! It changed Play the Peonies just enough (click here to see Play the Peonies by itself). As you can see, the top coat really did change the color and the glitter was just enough. I really liked how it turned out, hope you guys did too!

Hot Apple with gold crackle

Hey Guys!

With the weather getting nicer and nicer I was dying to find the most perfect red/hot pink mix and so I went searching through my stash and I found it with Hot Apple from China Glaze. It was so bright and so perfect for my mood. It was so good, I even put it on my toe nails as well! I also did an accent nail of gold crackle, Antiqued Gold from Sally Hansen.

I'm just getting more and more excited for the warm weather and summer! I hope you guys are too and thanks for taking a look :)

Neon Water Marble

I've been seeing a lot of nude colors mixed with some neon colors all over from fashion to home decor and everything in between so I figured I would give it a shot on my nails! It didn't quite turn out how I hoped but I still liked the end result.

The base color I used was Blank Canvas Cream from Finger Paints. This is one of my favorite nudes. It goes really well with my skin tone and just a nice nude for me!

The colors I used in the marbling were all from China Glaze, from left to right: Fuchsia, Coral Star, and White Cap. 

The main problem I had with this water marble is that I used a bowl instead of a cup like I usually do. The polish didn't want to spread out to the edges of the bowl and if it did spread out, it would dry quickly. I just kept going and hoped for the best. It didn't turn out awfully but I was hoping for better. Hope you liked it!

Dress Me Up

Hey guys!

Here is one of the Hunger Games Colors from the Capitol in Dress Me Up from China Glaze. I LOVE this color, it is the perfect nude/light rosey pink color. It's just beautiful. I could wear this one a lot and I don't say that about many colors, especially a nude.

The last NOTD that I have before Valentine's Day is Reece, another polish from Zoya. Spring seems to be on it's way, at least temperature wise so I thought something with a little more Spring feel was fitting. This color is a little hard to describe because it's always changing in the light. The best way I can describe it is a light purple/pink with a yellow/light green shimmer.

Finding Cancer Survivior Networks

Recently we were contacted by David Haas, a strong advocate for cancer patients to see if we would allow him to do a guest post on our site. As you guys know, it is Breast Cancer Awareness month and we've done several posts showing our support for the cure but here is a little bit more information that David wanted to share with our readers!

There are a number of benefits to cancer survivor networks. However, one difficult thing about these networks is that is can be difficult to find one applicable to you. There are support groups for all different kinds of cancers including common cancer like breast cancer and even rare cancers such as mesothelioma.  Finding a cancer network that provides support for the type of cancer you have will be able to provide you with emotional support.

Emotional support is very positive and uplifting, it is just what many cancer patients need after having gone through many harsh treatments such as chemotherapy. Many doctors actually go so far as to recommend that their patients seek out cancer support networks in order to help with treatment. Chances are if you are undergoing treatment for cancer your doctor will suggest that you seek out a survivor network to help you on the road to recovery. 

The American Cancer Society is a great way to network and find support programs and services. Their website, contains a list of a number of services and programs to benefit those undergoing cancer treatments. Support groups are beneficial to those with just about any type of ailment. But, when you consider the personal struggles that individuals have to go through with breast, or testicular cancers you can start to see the validity in having a knowledgeable and caring person to talk to about your own personal issues. 

Forums and email are a great way to find support. Many cancer networks have both of these services available to members. Often times you can find free forums online that are made specifically by survivors to help other survivors or those that are still battling cancer cope with the problems that they are facing. Even though friends and loved ones care and would like to provide support there is nothing as good as being able to confide in someone who personally knows what you are going through. Of course the support of one’s personal friends and loved ones is as important as being able to find solace and support in a Cancer Network. Online you can learn to cope by finding facts and information about your cancer, your treatment, and other things you may want to know. There are never charges for services offered online by the American Cancer Society as they have been put in place for the benefits of suffers and survivors alike.

Breast Cancer Awareness Post: Pink Water Marble

Here is my last Breast Cancer Awareness Post and it is a pink water marble! I tried a few different color combinations, as well as different color orders before I got something that actually worked well. The colors from left to right: China Glaze Fuschia, OPI Play the Peonies, and Sephora by OPI BYOBoy. 

Be sure to do your part this month to support Breast Cancer Awareness. Donate money, participate in a charity walk/race, donate your time to the charity walk/races, do something and get involved to help cure breast cancer! Besides painting my nails to show my support, I donated money to support the cure! Keep in mind that you can support the cure year around, not only during certain months so get out there and help support the fight for any and all cancers because we all know of someone who has or had some form of cancer or another.

Breast Cancer Awareness Post: Hot Pink Ribbons

Here is my third breast cancer awareness post, this one featuring the pink cancer ribbon! My other posts are more inspired simply by using the color pink, but this one really screams what it's all about! The two colors I used were China Glaze Fucshia and Sephora by OPI Dear Diary. Fuchsia is a great hot pink, especially for the summer and Dear Diary is a great sheer light pink.

Sorry the second picture is a bit blurry, my cat bumped my arm EVERY picture I tried to take because she wanted some attention.

Breast Cancer Awareness Post: Light Pink Diamonds

As I'm sure we all know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month so in honor of that, I decided to do a few pink posts dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness. The first look is a light pink, layered shear with glitter on top. The colors used from left to right: Sephora by OPI Wardrobe Change, Translucent by Studio M, and Covered in Diamonds by Studio M. The two first colors are very shear but I still only did a coat of each color and then the Diamonds as a top coat. 

I really like the Diamonds because it isn't an actual glitter or flakes, it's larger particles that sometimes stick up from your nails which can be a little annoying and get caught on things but it's so pretty I don't really mind.

OPI Play the Peonies!

Hi Everyone! Ahh!! I have been so busy with work! It is definitely football season again! (I'm the equipment manager for me and Adam's football team!) It is so busy and actually I will be showing you archived pictures for the next two(ish) weeks because as soon as I paint my nails they chip or do not last very long! I am actually bare nailed right now! Gasp!

Play the Peonies (has been mentioned by Lindsey before) IS MY FAVORITE NUDE EVER!

I'm serious. If I had this before my wedding, this would have been my chosen polish!!!!

A light pink frost that looks GORGE on the nail. It is so pretty. Perfect application, perfect consistency, everything! Ahhh! This is my favorite nail polish ever!

Bridal Series: Essie Better Together

Hi everyone! Sorry long time, no blog. I'm taking two summer classes and the final plans are coming along for the wedding, AND! My mom is in town! Woo. 

Anyways, now that I have time to take a breath, heres a brand spankin' new blog! (ps, I finally bought a new Seche Vite! Thank the gods!)

Essie's Better Together! 

I have been coveting this nail polish since I saw the posters for Essie's new bridal collection called Borrowed & Blue. 

Better Together is a light pink and sheer. This is two coats. 

Better Together applied like a dream and topped off with a coat of Seche Vite! NO bubbles! Yay! This polish is so beautiful! It is the most perfect pail pink, it makes my nails look nice and clean without saying "hey look at me!" Which is totally what I'm going for since It's about me, not my nails (for once)!

I couldn't be happier, and I think I have found my wedding nail polish, through all the nudes, this is it. Essie's Better Together is also significant because our song for our wedding is "Better Together" by Jack Johnson. 

Thank you for all your support through the bridal series, and I can't wait to try out more nudes and more importantly variety in my polish in the future! See you (maybe before) when I become a Mrs!

Bridal Series: Essie Topless and Barefoot

I loveeee me some nudes!

Next up: Essie Topless and Barefoot, a pinkish nude. Opaque and a nice polish in all.

I got this polish in... April I think. Loved it! LOVEEEEEEDDDD it. It's such a pretty pink nude color and it matched really well with my skin tone. But now, It's gone all thick and gloopy. What is my nail polish's deal?? I haven't stored them in a different place than I normally would. I mean, they're in a stack n store in the corner of my room, no real direct sunlight, it's cool, no real humidity, what's the deal? Maybe I should stick my favorites in the fridge for a while... I really don't want to buy thinner, but I have a feeling that's exactly what I'll have to do.

Well, along with being gloopy, my polish bubbled...again. Man! I have to get on top of things. I used two coats as one was streaky. (I'll have to see if my Sand Tropez polish is the same as topless and barefoot, since I bought them at the same time) Well, this is two coats with a coat of seche clear (yes, I know this is a base coat, I used it as a top coat - I'm desperate, okay!)

While taking pictures, I decided that two coats of polish wasn't enough! I tried some top coats! L to R: OPI Teenage Dream, Sephora by OPI Only Gold for Me Top Coat, Sally Hansen 05 Diamonds Top Coat, and CND Effects Gold Sparkling #570. 

I couldn't believe how much the CND Gold Sparkling top coat changed the color of the polish to the eye! It was crazy, it looked like it had yellow undertones vs pink! 

I'm glad we have another contender for Wedding day nails! Moving forward!

I'm going Nude-ist!

Haha, okay, not really but for the next couple of weeks I am!

I'm getting married in 18 days!! Ahhh!! No cold feet here, just plenty of nude nails! I am on the hunt for the perfect pinky nude nail polish! I don't want my nails to look gaudy since for once the attention is not on them, so I have been on the hunt.

First up is OPI Sweetheart! A very pretty light pink shade!

This is one of my FAVORITE nail polishes ever, just behind You Don't Know Jacques! It applies like a dream and needs only two coats (I put three just even everything out) to look precious on fingers or toes (I have it on my toes right now and they look so clean and cute...mind you, i'm usually a only red on my toes kind of girl).

So here, I give you: OPI Sweetheart!

I'll be here tomorrow with my next maybe wedding polish!
