Wannabe Chanel Mimosa

Hi guys! I hope everyone's summer is going really well! It's getting hot here!

So, I LOVE Chanel nail polishes! They are so amazing, but I do not love the price tag, like other people, so I decided to improvise!

For the Summer, Chanel released Mimosa, a sheer "shimmery" golden/buttery polish. Uhhhh I lusted over this polish, but I knew, being such a crazy color, that I could not buy it because I would never get my used out of it. I just made do with the colors I already owned!

First, I did two coats of China Glaze's Lemon Fizz from their Up & Away collection. Then, having CND's Gold shimmer, I put on a top coat. It doesn't look like it 100%, but for me, it's pretty close.

Chanel's Mimosa: (I just googled this picture)
Here's my interpretation!

What are your improvisations for Chanel polishes? Do you have any dupes? I would LOVE to know!

I hope to have a great fourth of july nail posting here soon!

Have a great week!

Glittery Nudes

Hey bloggers!

Here is one of the Love & Beauty polishes from Forever21 that doesn't have a name. I like nudes but sometimes they bore me and since this has glitter in it, it gives it a little something extra. It was more shear that I expected, so instead of my typical two coats I had to go with three. Overall I really liked the color though!

Be on the lookout for a semi 4th of July inspired look! Any big plans besides watching fireworks, cooking out, and slipping into a food-coma?

Hope y'all have had a good week so far!

Mini Haul

Hi bloggers!

Just wanted to show you a few of the new polishes I've bought over the last month (roughly), nothing too crazy exciting today but keep looking a little later on this week to see how a few of these looked on!

From left to right: Essie Nice is Nice, Essie My Perfect Pair which included Meet Me at Sunset and Smooth Sailing, two Love & Beauty polishes from Forever21 that don't have names, Wet N Wild Fastdry Waves of Enchantment (which I used in my water marble), and Wet N Wild Fastdry Sea of Dreams.

Question: Would you guys like to see an occasional post on other beauty products besides nail polishes? Make up, face products (washes, lotions, cleansers, etc.), perfumes, other things along those lines? We would still stay a nail polish blog obviously, just something else to mix it up every once in a while. Give us your thoughts please!

Like I said before, be on the look out the rest of the week for posts featuring a few of those polishes above.

Hope y'all had a good Monday!

Laziness has gotten the best of me.

Okay guys. I got married last week, and I seriously have not painted my nails since. I have been going bare ALL WEEK! I cannot remember the last time this has happened. It was so awful. All of my nails broke off and look like a 6 year olds. Seriously.

Ew, sorry this is a really disgusting picture, but you have to see it. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU GET MARRIED!

Ew. Ew. Ew. Ew.

Anyways, FINALLY I painted my nails this morning (when I should be working on my summer classes homework).  True Blood comes back on tonight, so I thought I'd celebrate (as much as I wanted to slap some You Don't Know Jacques, I didn't).

This is Zoya's Sooki! A magnificent red creme that looks amazing in one coat! I'm still pretty weary about Zoya's formula. It's still not... just....right. Maybe I'm being weird, but it's just different and I don't know if I like it.

A quick picture, this color looks so different with flash, sunlight, artificial light, etc. So pretty.

Look how weird all my nails look in this picture. They're all a different color!
 Sunlight:

Red nail polish always reminds me of my Grandma, it's what she ALWAYS had on her nails, and thanks to her, I inherited her love of polish. Since I wear her engagement ring as my own, it just gave me the willies having red nail polish on, so I thought I'd photograph them both for you!
Man my fingers look chunky. ha

So there it is! Zoya's Sooki! Make sure to tune in to HBO tonight at 9 for the season premiere of True Blood (one of me and Lindsey's favorite TV shows)!

Water Marble Semi-fail

Hi bloggers!

So as promised, here is a recent water marble I did tonight. It didn't turn out as I was hoping but I still like it. I've only done a few water marbles before so I'm still learning! The two mistakes I made with this water marble is I should have used a different base color and I should have put more drops in my water to make more rings of the different colors. Things to keep in mind for next time.

Anyway, I used three different colors: Wet n Wild Fastdry in Waves of Enchantment, China Glaze in Coral Star, and Sally Hansen Diamond Strength in Fuchsia Bling Bling.

I used Waves of Enchantment as a base color, LOVE IT! So pretty and shimmery pinkish coral, perfect for the summer.

And here are my two favorite nails before the edges were cleaned up.

Like I said, it didn't turn out awful but it didn't turn out how I was hoping but it's all a learning process.

If you are wondering how you water marble, type it into youtube and watch a few videos on it. That's how I learned.

Hope you enjoyed!

Maid of Honor Nails

Hi bloggers!

Since Brielle posted her nails that she will have for her wedding (which is tomorrow!!!) I figured, being the best friend, maid of honor, and sister at heart; I should post my nails as well. The colors Brielle choose for her wedding were plum, lavender, and gray and my dress that I choose is a plum color. I also wanted something more understated like Brielle did because tomorrow is about her and her soon to be husband, not about her and my nails which is how things typically are!

I choose to go with Wet n Wild Wild Shine in Wild Card. It's a sheer purple with a light pink sheen to it. I figured it would need at least three coats but two coats covered just fine.

With Brielle's wedding tomorrow and the reception on Saturday, we're going to be pretty busy so there probably won't be a new post until next week. I'm planning on doing a water marble next week, I'll post it as long as it turns out alright. I've only done it a few times before so I'm still learning!

Hope y'all have a good weekend! I know we will :)

Love, plain and simple.

Hi bloggers!

Since Brielle is getting married this weekend, a post about love is only fitting! When trying to decide what I wanted to paint my nails, I looked at the group of polishes that I have yet to use, this Zoya color yelled "PICK ME!" loud in clear and I couldn't have been happier with it. The color by Zoya is called Colbie.

Something else I'm really loving right now is my love ring from Forever21. I just love it, plain and simple.  I've worn it quite a lot since I got it and for under $5, makes it even better.

Hope y'all enjoyed and that you have a week full of love and happiness! I know we are!!

Bridal Series: Essie Better Together

Hi everyone! Sorry long time, no blog. I'm taking two summer classes and the final plans are coming along for the wedding, AND! My mom is in town! Woo.

Anyways, now that I have time to take a breath, heres a brand spankin' new blog! (ps, I finally bought a new Seche Vite! Thank the gods!)

Essie's Better Together!

I have been coveting this nail polish since I saw the posters for Essie's new bridal collection called Borrowed & Blue.

Better Together is a light pink and sheer. This is two coats.

Better Together applied like a dream and topped off with a coat of Seche Vite! NO bubbles! Yay! This polish is so beautiful! It is the most perfect pail pink, it makes my nails look nice and clean without saying "hey look at me!" Which is totally what I'm going for since It's about me, not my nails (for once)!

I couldn't be happier, and I think I have found my wedding nail polish, through all the nudes, this is it. Essie's Better Together is also significant because our song for our wedding is "Better Together" by Jack Johnson.

Thank you for all your support through the bridal series, and I can't wait to try out more nudes and more importantly variety in my polish in the future! See you (maybe before) when I become a Mrs!

Giveaway

Everyone loves a good giveaway and no, we are not giving anything away (at least at this time) but Legally Lacquered is! Check it out http://legallylacquered.blogspot.com/2011/05/giveaway.html?spref=tw

Signature Look

 Hi bloggers!

While Brielle has a favorite color, I have a favorite look. It's just so hard for me to pick a single color so today I'm sharing with you all my favorite look which is the accent nail! I love doing an accent nail because I get to use more than one color and typically get to use a glitter polish (which from my last post, we all know I love!!). For this look I used two butter LONDON polishes, All Hail the Queen and Rosie Lee as an accent.

This combo is one that I have worn multiple times which is surprisingly, I don't wear the same color combos a lot but this one always catches my eye and they just go perfect together! I'll be wearing this mani this weekend for a wedding I'm going to (my dress is hot pink :D).

Unless Brielle posts something this weekend, this could be our last post till next week so be patient with us please!

Glittery Cracked Goodness!

Hi bloggers!

Sorry for the lack of posts the past few days! Brielle and I have both had a pretty busy weekend, as will the next two weekends be for the both of us so bear with us please!

I tried out two of the nail polishes I posted about in my previous haul post. I picked Finger Paints in Laugh My Art Off and Sally Hansen Crackled Overcoat in Fracture Foil. I'm completely in love with glitter polishes and crackle ones as well so I got the best of both worlds with this one!

Close up of the glittery goodness! Excuse the slight messy edges, they weren't cleaned up yet!

And the last one with the crackle overcoat. I loved, loved, loved how this turned out! To make things even better, it got the stamp of approval from my boyfriend :) he said it looked like I could "shoot lightening bolts out of my nails or something sweet" lol

I really liked the Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat. After being slightly disappointed in the China Glaze Crackle Glaze and it's crackling ability, I was a little hesitant with this one. OPI's Shattered polishes still rank #1 for me when it comes to crackle polishes I've tried but so far, Sally Hansen is a close second.

Hope everyone has had a good start to their week!!

Bridal Series: Essie Topless and Barefoot

I loveeee me some nudes!

Next up: Essie Topless and Barefoot, a pinkish nude. Opaque and a nice polish in all.

I got this polish in... April I think. Loved it! LOVEEEEEEDDDD it. It's such a pretty pink nude color and it matched really well with my skin tone. But now, It's gone all thick and gloopy. What is my nail polish's deal?? I haven't stored them in a different place than I normally would. I mean, they're in a stack n store in the corner of my room, no real direct sunlight, it's cool, no real humidity, what's the deal? Maybe I should stick my favorites in the fridge for a while... I really don't want to buy thinner, but I have a feeling that's exactly what I'll have to do.

Well, along with being gloopy, my polish bubbled...again. Man! I have to get on top of things. I used two coats as one was streaky. (I'll have to see if my Sand Tropez polish is the same as topless and barefoot, since I bought them at the same time) Well, this is two coats with a coat of seche clear (yes, I know this is a base coat, I used it as a top coat - I'm desperate, okay!)

Okay, here's Topless and Barefoot!

While taking pictures, I decided that two coats of polish wasn't enough! I tried some top coats! L to R: OPI Teenage Dream, Sephora by OPI Only Gold for Me Top Coat, Sally Hansen 05 Diamonds Top Coat, and CND Effects Gold Sparkling #570.

I couldn't believe how much the CND Gold Sparkling top coat changed the color of the polish to the eye! It was crazy, it looked like it had yellow undertones vs pink!

I'm glad we have another contender for Wedding day nails! Moving forward!

Bridal Series: China Glaze White Cap

Hey everyone! Here's another polish to add to the competition for wedding day! I bought White Cap a while ago, I thought it was such a pretty shimmery white polish, perfect for spring and summer. Such a fresh polish!

White Cap applied really well, no problems there, I used three coats just to get an even coating and a stark color, two would have done the trick, it was just a little sheer for me. I was so happy to see that on the nail, it wasn't just white shimmer. It had gold reflux, which would look fantastic with my ivory wedding dress. SO GORGEOUS!

I love this color on the nails! It was soo pretty! Taking it off was awful though, ugggghhh pulling apart my cotton pad. I really want to try felt to help with my glitter polish removal, maybe when I get around to buying Seche Vite, haha.

Okay, here it is!

Happy Hump Day!
